Post-Game Notes vs. Nevada

  • With the 63-44 win over Nevada, Toledo improves to 5-0 all-time against the Wolf Pack. That is tied for the most Rocket wins over an FBS opponent without a loss (UT is also 5-0 all-time against Arkansas State).
  • With 63 points scored, this marks the second time in program history that Toledo has scored at least 60 points twice in a season.
  • Sixty-three points are the most ever against an FBS non-conference opponent.
  • The Rockets have scored 153 points through their first three games, the most since 2005 (160 points).
  • The Rockets scored at least 35 points in a first half (42 against VMI on Sept. 1) for the second time this season.
  • Toledo blocked its second punt of the season in the second quarter, both returned for touchdowns. Entering the weekend, only three other teams had blocked multiple punts so far this season (Northern Illinois, Oklahoma State, and Tennessee).
  • Diontae Johnson’s 98-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in the second quarter was the first for Toledo since his 99-yard return TD against Elon in the season opener last year (Aug. 31, 2017).
  • Johnson becomes the fourth player in school history to have at least two kickoff return touchdowns in a career, joining Eric Page (four), Bernard Reedy (three), and Lance Moore (two).
  • Cody Thompson’s four-yard touchdown reception marked the 33nd consecutive game in which he has caught a pass.
  • Thompson also passed Lance Moore on UT’s all-time career receiving yards list. He finished his day with four catches for 57 yards and three touchdowns to move into fourth place all-time in school history in career receiving yards (2,809).
  • With three touchdown catches, Thompson moves into a tie with Alonzo Russell (2012-15) for third place in school history with 24 career TD catches.
  • Mitchell Guadagni rushed for a career-high 131 yards, including a 27-yard touchdown run in the second quarter and a career-best 34-yarder in the fourth quarter. He became the first Toledo quarterback to rush for 100 yards in a game since Aaron Opelt (109 yards against Colorado, Sept. 11, 2009).
  • Guadagni’s 131 rushing yards are the second most in program history by a quarterback, trailing only Maurice Hall’s 142 yards vs. Bowling Green in 1979.
  • Jameson Vest was a perfect 9-for-9 in extra points, the fourth time he has successfully converted nine PATs in a game.
