With today’s 35-20 victory, Toledo won its MAC opener for the ninth consecutive year. The last time the Rockets lost their league lid-lifter was 2007.

UT totaled 35 points and 467 yards of total offense. UT also held a decisive 30-16 edge in first downs and a 37:12-22:48 advantage in time of possession. The Rockets have now scored at least 31 points in each of the first five games this season.

Toledo was an efficient 11-of-17 (64.7 percent) on third-down conversions, while EMU converted only 2-of-10 (20 percent).

Toledo extended its winning streak against the Eagles to 10 straight games. The Rockets lead the all-time series by a 33-11 margin, including a 16-1 win-loss mark since 1999.

The Rockets forced their first two turnovers of the season. UT recovered a fumble on a kickoff in the third quarter before senior FS DeJuan Rogers sealed the victory with an interception late in the fourth quarter.

Junior QB Logan Woodside completed 25-of-31 passes for 247 yards and four touchdowns. Woodside has now thrown at least three TD passes in every game this year. He also has 20 TD passes on the season, a total that ranks seventh most in school history in a single season.

Senior RB Kareem Hunt topped the century mark for the third straight game with a season-high 29 carries for 141 yards, including a two-yard TD run in the third quarter. With the two-yard scoring plunge, Hunt moved into a tie for second place in school history with 38 rushing scores with Wasean Tait (1993-98). The Willoughby, OH native also went over 4,000 career yards rushing with today’s performance (4,024).

Junior RB Terry Swanson ran the ball a season-high 15 times for 71 yards. Swanson’s previous season best was 14 carries at Arkansas State on Sept. 2.  

Junior WR Cody Thompson hauled in a career-high seven catches for a team-best 126 yards. His previous career high was six catches at UMass on Oct. 24, 2015. Thompson was also credited with with a 63-yard TD catch in the third period. He has now recorded a TD reception in every game this season. The third-year Rocket has nine receptions of at least 36 yards this year. Thompson has totaled at least 100 yards receiving in all but one contest.

Senior TE Michael Roberts’ 15-yard TD catch in the fourth quarter puts him into a tie for the team lead with six scoring catches on the year with sophomore WR Jon’Vea Johnson. Roberts has now scored a TD in four of five games this season. The Cleveland, OH native finished with five catches for 35 yards.

Sophomore WR Jon’Vea Johnson had three receptions for 40 yards, including a 17-yard TD catch in the second quarter. Johnson has now caught a TD pass in each of the last four games and is tied for the team lead with six scoring catches on the year with senior TE Michael Roberts.

Sophomore DB Marcus Whitfield was credited with a fumble recovery on a kickoff in the third period.

Junior DE Tuzar Skipper recorded his first tackle-for-loss as a Rocket in the second quarter. Skipper totaled three stops.

Senior FS DeJuan Rogers paced the Rockets with six tackles and register his first interception of the season (and second of his career) late in the fourth quarter.

Senior DE John Stepec led the way with three quarterback hurries and one pass breakup.

Toledo opened the game with a season-tying best 14-play drive. Unfortunately for the Rockets, they could not catch in the lengthy drive and turned the ball over on downs. UT also had a 14-play drive against Maine in the home opener on Sept. 10.
