With today’s victory, the Rockets become bowl eligible for the seventh-straight season.

With today’s offensive output, Toledo has scored at least 31 points in every game this fall.

The Rockets secured their seventh-straight victory over MAC West Division foe Central Michigan following today’s 31-17 home triumph. It is the longest win streak in the series since UT won 10 straight from 1995-2004. CMU last won in Toledo in 2008.

UT held CMU to 17 points and 344 yards of total offense. The Chippewas came into today’s MAC West Division match-up ranked third in the league in scoring offense (32.3 ppg) and fourth in total offense (441.0 ypg). The Rockets limited Central Michigan to 2-of-10 on third-down conversions. CMU entered the game converting 45.6 percent (47-of-102) on third down.

Junior QB Logan Woodside completed 23-of-32 passes for 264 yards and four touchdowns. Woodside has now thrown at least four TD passes in each of the last six games. For the year, he has recorded 28 TD passes, the third-highest total in school history in a single season. Bruce Gradkowski holds the school record with 29 TD tosses during the 2003 and 2005 seasons. With today’s effort, Woodside moves into fourth place in school history with 48 career TD passes, jumping over Aaron Opelt (46 TDs, 2006-09) and Chuck Ealey (45 TDs, 1969-71). Gradkowski holds the school mark with 85 career TD tosses.

Junior WR Cody Thompson tied his career high with a contest-tying best seven catches for a game-high 122 yards and a career best four TDs, second most in school history in a single game. Eric Page holds the school record with five TD receptions against Northern Illinois on Nov. 1, 2011. Thompson was credited with a 34-yard TD reception and an 11-yard TD catch in the fourth period, as well as a pair of 16-yard TD receptions in the third, respectively. He has now recorded a TD catch in all but one game this season. It was Thompson’s second career multi-TD effort. He had two TD catches at UMass on Oct. 24, 2015. He also surpassed the century mark for the fifth time this year. Through seven games, Thompson has 844 yards receiving and nine touchdown catches, the 14th- and tied for third-highest totals in school record in a single season, respectively.

With today’s effort, junior WR Cody Thompson became the third different Rocket to haul in at least three TD catches this season. Sophomore WR Jon’Vea Johnson had three TD receptions at BYU on Sept. 30 and most recently senior TE Michael Roberts reeled in three scores vs. arch-rival Bowling Green last Saturday.

Senior WR Corey Jones finished with a contest-tying best and season-tying high seven catches for 85 yards. Jones also had seven receptions at Eastern Michigan on Oct. 8.

Senior S Connery Swift recorded his first collegiate interception on CMU’s opening possession in the third quarter. Swift finished the division match-up with four tackles.

Senior DE John Stepec was credited with his team-tying best 4.0 sack of the season in the first period. Stepec finished the game with a contest-best 2.0 tackles for loss and four stops. He is tied for team lead in sacks with senior DL Treyvon Hester.

Junior CB Trevon Mathis was credited with a forced fumble in the second quarter on UT’s one-yard line that resulted in a touchback. Mathis finished with a team-tying best five stops.

Sophomore PK Jameson Vest successfully kicked a 34-yard field goal on UT’s opening possession. Vest has now booted a field goal in five of the seven games his season.

Junior DL Daniel Davis tallied his first full collegiate tackle for loss in the second quarter. Davis was also credited with a half stop behind the line of scrimmage against Fresno State on Sept. 17, 2016.

Toledo opened the game with an efficient 11-play drive that covered 63 yards and culminated with a 34-yard field goal by sophomore PK Jameson Vest. The Rockets have now scored points on three occasions on their opening possession (touchdowns at BYU (Sept. 30) and vs. Maine (Sept. 10).

The Rockets held CMU scoreless in the first half, marking the third time they have held the opposition to no points in the opening 30 minutes this year. UT also held Maine scoreless in the second half on Sept. 10 and most recently Fresno State in the opening half on Sept. 17.

UT was held scoreless in the second quarter for the first time this season. The Rockets have outscored the opposition, 62-3, in the second period this year.

Toledo was an efficient 7-of-14 (50 percent) on third-down conversions. The Rockets have now converted at least 50 percent on third down on five occasions this year.
