Curtis Johnson, Football (1967-69)
Curtis Johnson won varsity football letters in 1967, 1968, and 1969 and was a star of Mid-American Conference championship teams in both 1967 and 1969. As a senior, he was a unanimous choice as a first team All-MAC defensive back and was named a second team major college All-America by both the Associated Press and by Central Press. He was a tri-captain of Toledo's 1969 MAC and Tangerine Bowl championship team that was undefeated and untied in 11 games. He still holds a University and Mid-American Conference record of seven pass interceptions in one season. Drafted fourth in the National Football League by Miami, the highest ever at that time for a Toledo Player, he became a starting defensive back as a first year player on the 1970 Miami Dolphins world championship team and has remained a starting professional player on the same team up to the present time.
