Matt Hofer Named Nominee for 2026 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team

TOLEDO, Ohio – Redshirt sophomore offensive lineman Matt Hofer has been named a nominee for the 2026 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, one of college football's most prestigious honors recognizing student-athletes who demonstrate exceptional commitment to community service, academic achievement and athletic excellence.

Hofer is one of 113 Football Bowl Subdivision student-athletes nominated for this year's team, which honors college football players who make a lasting impact on their communities while excelling on the field and in the classroom. The 2026 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team will be announced in September.

Whether he's volunteering at Cherry Street Mission, mentoring young people or representing our program throughout the Toledo community, Matt leads with humility and purpose. Hofer – a 2025 AllState Wuerffel Trophy finalist – has accumulated more than 300 verified community service hours during his Toledo career, becoming one of the athletics department's most dedicated volunteers. His service has been highlighted by countless hours at Cherry Street Mission, where he regularly prepares and serves meals for those in need. He also has volunteered with Connecting Kids to Meals, The Ability Center, the Boys & Girls Club, local elementary schools, youth football camps and numerous UT Athletics community outreach events. Hofer's efforts have impacted children, families and community members throughout Northwest Ohio.

Last season, Hofer played in 12 games and was part of a Rocket offense that ranked No. 1 in the MAC in scoring (30.8 points), total offense (415.2 yards) and passing offense (238.1 yards).

Established in 1992 and presented by Allstate since 2008, the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team recognizes college football student-athletes who use their platforms to strengthen communities and support causes important to them. The award honors players who demonstrate exceptional leadership through community service, academics and athletics.

This year's nominee class includes 175 student-athletes and head coaches from every level of college football. A selection panel composed of former Good Works Team members, coaches, journalists and community leaders will select 22 student-athletes and one honorary head coach for the 2026 team. One student-athlete also will be named team captain and receive the Allstate Wuerffel Trophy, college football's premier award for community service.
