COLUMBIA, S.C. – Senior pitcher
Kylee Graham pitched a shutout against Providence on Friday afternoon as the Toledo softball team grabbed two wins on opening day. The Rockets (2-0) clobbered Saint Francis, 8-1, to begin the day and followed with a 1-0 victory over Providence.
Graham (1-0) surrendered five hits and one walk to the Friars en route to the one-run victory. Senior
Sophia Knight (1-0) threw a complete game against Saint Francis, giving up one run on four hits.
Senior shortstop
Eli Enriquez recorded a double and two RBIs on Friday, including driving in the game's only run in the fifth inning against the Friars. Freshman
Samantha Bolding tallied a team-high three RBIs on two hits in the win over Saint Francis.
ROCKET NOTES
- Freshmen Payton Abiley, Samantha Bolding, Audrey Miller and Marissa Warren earned starts in one or both of Friday's games.
- Against Saint Francis, the Rockets used a three-run first inning to take the momentum and never looked back. They added two runs in the fifth and seventh innings to insure the victory.
- Enriquez drove in the winning run against Providence with a single to center in the top of the fifth inning.
- Four Rockets recorded multi-hit games on Friday. Enriquez had three hits against Saint Francis while Abiley added two hits against the Friars.
