Toledo will face ACC member Louisville at 2:00 p.m. on ESPN on Tuesday, Dec. 23
TOLEDO, Ohio – The University of Toledo has accepted an invitation to play the University of Louisville out of the ACC in the 2025 Bush's Boca Raton Bowl of Beans at FAU's Flagler Credit Union Stadium in Boca Raton, Fla. on Tuesday, Dec. 23.  The contest will kick off at 2:00 p.m. on ESPN.
Â
Toledo (8-4, 6-2 MAC) is playing in a bowl game for the fifth consecutive season and 23rd overall. This will be the Rockets' third trip to the Boca Raton Bowl. Toledo is 2-0 in the bowl, with victories over Temple in 2015 and Liberty in 2022. This will be the second year in a row that Toledo will battle a team from the ACC in a bowl game. The Rockets defeated Pittsburgh in the GameAbove Sports Bowl last season, 48-46 in six overtimes.
Â
"We are very excited to accept an invitation to the Bush's Boca Raton Bowl of Beans," said Toledo Vice-President and Director of Athletics Bryan B. Blair. "The bowl will provide a terrific experience for our student-athletes, who have worked day-in and day-out over the past 12 months and deserve a chance to play one more game together this season. We look forward to enjoying all the planned bowl activities as well as the hospitality that Boca Raton and south Florida have to offer.
Â
"This is also a great opportunity for our football program, our University, our community to promote our brand. Toledo Football has been bowl-eligible for 16 consecutive seasons, which ranks No. 6 out of 136 FBS institutions. The Boca Raton Bowl will provide an incredible platform for the University and Toledo community to be highlighted on ESPN and its nearly 70 million viewing households."
Â
Toledo closed out the 2025 regular season in dominant fashion, winning its final four games and holding opponents to single digits in each contest—a testament to one of the nation's most elite defenses. The Rockets have the nation's No. 3 ranked defense (247.8 yards per game) and held opponents to 14 points or fewer seven times. Toledo led the Mid-American in virtually every significant team stat on both sides of the ball, including scoring offense (31.6) and total offense (421.8).
Â
The Rockets were undefeated at home, posting a perfect 6-0 record in the Glass Bowl and outscoring opponents by an average margin of 38.2 points per game, the second-best home margin in the country. That dominance helped Toledo extend two remarkable streaks: 16 straight seasons of bowl eligibility, the sixth-longest active run in the FBS, and 16 consecutive seasons without a losing record, ranking third nationally.
Â
Co-offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Robert Weiner will serve as interim head coach for the Rockets in the bowl game.
Â
Toledo and Louisville (8-4, 4-4) have met on the gridiron eight times since their first meeting in 1925 but not since 1981. The Cardinals lead the all-time series 5-3.
