Toledo looking to stay undefeated at the Glass Bowl

TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo returns home looking to get back on the winning track vs. Kent State at the Glass Bowl on Saturday, Oct. 18 (2:00 p.m./ESPN+) where the Rockets are 3-0 this season.

Toledo (3-3, 1-2 MAC) is coming off a 28-23 loss at Bowling Green on Oct. 11. The Rockets outgained the Falcons, 429-226, but came up short on the scoreboard in the annual Battle of I-75.

Toledo jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the first half and led 21-7 heading into the locker room, but the Falcons scored 21 points in the second half to take a 28-21 lead. Toledo was credited with a safety on the game's final play when Bowling Green intentionally ran the ball out of the back of the end zone to run out the clock.

Senior quarterback Tucker Gleason finished 19-of-30 on the day with one touchdown, adding a 12-yard rushing score. Senior Chip Trayanum rushed for 125 yards on 27 carries with a touchdown. Senior wide receiver Junior Vandeross finished with 100 yards on six catches to lead Rocket receivers.

Junior K'Von Sherman made 12 tackles with seven solo stops, adding 3.0 tackles for loss. Braden Awls came away with the Rockets' only turnover with a fourth-quarter interception.

Kent State (2-4, 1-1 MAC) is coming off a 42-6 win at UMass on Oct. 11. The Golden Flashes' conference loss was a 31-28 defeat vs. Buffalo. Their three non-conference losses came against teams ranked in the Top 25 at the time: #24 Texas Tech, #7 Florida State and #5 Oklahoma. KSU opened the season with 21-17 win over Merrimack.

    • Toledo leads the series with Kent State, 28-21. The Rockets have won the last six meetings, most recently a 52-31 victory at the Glass Bowl in 2022.
    • This will be just the seventh meeting between the two schools in the last 16 years. 
    • Toledo will honor seven inductees to its Varsity T Hall of Fame at halftime of the Kent State game. Two former football players are in the Class of 2025­—placekicker Tony Lee (1981-83) and running back Trinity Dawson (2001-05).
    • Toledo ranks first in the MAC in scoring offense (33.7), scoring defense (15.0), total offense (440.2), total defense (224.2), rushing offense (204.5), rushing defense (86.8), pass defense (137.3) and defense pass efficiency (105.04).
    • Toledo's defense ranks sixth in the FBS in total defense ( 224.2), fourth in passing yards allowed (137.3), 11th in defensive passing efficiency (105.04), 12th in rushing defense (86.8) and 13th in scoring defense (15.0).
    • Senior running back Chip Trayanum leads the MAC in rushing yards per game (100.2) and rushing TDs (7). He is 11th in the nation in rushing yards per game, 12th in total rushing yards (601) and 17th in rushing TDs.
    • Safety Emmanuel McNeil-Warren ranks second in the nation in forced fumbles (3) and third in fumbles recovered (2).
    • Senior wide receiver Junior Vandeross III ranks first in the MAC and seventh in the nation with six TD receptions. He is tied for second in the MAC in receptions (37) and receptions per game (6.2),
