Toledo Tops Tiffin 6-1 in Dual Season Opener

Three freshmen tally first career wins
TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's tennis team opened its 2025 dual season with a 6-1 victory over the Tiffin Dragons on Friday afternoon at Twos Athletic Club.
"This was a great start to the season," said Head Coach Tracy Mauntler. "I was happy with the freshmen's performances in their first collegiate matches today."
The Rockets (1-0) started off strong, grabbing wins on all three double courts to take the first point. Freshmen Neha Guru and Jacklynka Scholten earned their first career doubles win on the No. 1 court, 6-1. Gaby Rondon and Annika Munson took a 6-0 win on the No. 3 court, while Audrey Moutama and Jone Ibanez grabbed a 6-4 win on the No. 2 court to close out doubles action.
In singles play, Gaby Rondon recorded a straight-set victory on the No. 2 court to put Toledo ahead, 2-1. Jone Ibanez and Annika Munson tallied wins on the No. 5 and No. 6 courts, respectively, to clinch the victory for the Rockets and take a 4-0 lead.
The Rockets went up 6-0 after freshmen Neha Guru and Jacklynka Scholten tallied their first career singles wins. Guru took down Tiffin's Avram in straight sets, while Scholten captured her win in a third-set tiebreaker. Junior Audrey Moutama fell on the No. 1 court to Tiffin's Lepinay in a third-set tiebreaker to record the final score of 6-1.

Toledo will host Cleveland State on Friday, Jan. 31. First serve is set for 1:00 p.m. from Twos Athletic Club.
