Junior Mads Jensen Tied for 15th Place After Day One of Purdue Fall Invitational

Rockets tied for eighth place and are just six shots behind third-place Boilermakers
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Junior Mads Jensen shot an even-par 144 to lead the Toledo men's golf team in Sunday's first two rounds of the Purdue Fall Invitational. Jensen is tied for 15th place in the individual standings and is just two shots out of fourth place.Â
As a team, the Rockets (299-288=587) are tied for eighth place after improving their team score by 11 shots in the second round at the par-72, 7,461-yard Kampen Course. UT carded an even-par 288 to close out the day, with Jensen's three-under par 69 in the afternoon leading the way. Indiana leads the 15-team field at 11-under par, with the Rockets trailing third-place Purdue by just six shots.Â
Jensen was red-hot early in his second round by registering four birdies and an eagle in the first seven holes.
Senior CJ van Wyk (73-73=146) and sophomore Marijn Hoogeveen (73-74=147) also played solid golf for the Rockets and are tied for 22nd and 28th place, respectively.
Junior Bence Kotel (T-54th/78-74=152) and freshman Julius Lange (T-60th/81-72=153) each registered significant improvements from the first to second rounds. Lange shot an even-par 72 in the afternoon, while Kotel notched a two-over par 74.
The third and final round of the tournament will begin tomorrow morning with a 9:30 a.m. shotgun start.
Three Rockets are also competing in the Purdue Fall Individual Tournament at the par-71, 7,275-yard Ackerman-Allen Golf Course. Freshman Bence Bertenyi leads the 34-player field with a six-under 136 (67-69), with sophomore Mason Deal tied for ninth place at two-over par 144 (72-72). Senior Jamie Butler is tied for 13th place at four-over par 146 (74-72).
