Rockets Land Four Players on Senior Bowl Watch List

Darius Alexander, Maxen Hook, Jerjuan Newton and Anthony Torres each selected
TOLEDO, Ohio – Wide receiver Jerjuan Newton, tight end Anthony Torres, defensive lineman Darius Alexander and safety Maxen Hook have each been named to the Reese's Senior Bowl Watch List announced on Wednesday.

Newton was named First-Team All-MAC a season ago after making 52 catches for 696 yards and nine touchdowns. He led the MAC in both receiving yards and receiving touchdowns. Newton enters the season tied for ninth in Toledo's all-time records with 21 receiving scores.

Torres made 26 catches for 464 yards and three touchdowns last season, leading to a Second-Team All-MAC selection. He has 31 catches and 528 total yards in two seasons with the Rockets after transferring from Western Michigan.

Alexander grabbed a Third-Team All-MAC nod last season with 36 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss and 4.0 sacks to his credit. The Fort Wayne, Ind. native has 87 tackles, 14.5 TFLs, 5.5 sacks and eight passes defended in four years as a Rocket.

Hook received First-Team All-MAC honors in 2023 and has been named to the watch lists for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy (top defender), Jim Thorpe Award (top defensive back) and Chuck Bednarik Award (top defensive player). He led the team with three interceptions last year and totaled 69 tackles, 37 solo in nine games.

The group added to several preseason nods, with all four players also being named to the Phil Steele and Athlon Sports Preseason All-MAC awards and being named Group of Five All-Americans by HERO Sports.

Toledo will begin its season against Duquesne in "The Biggest Party in Toledo" on Thursday, Aug. 29 at 7:30 p.m.
