TOLEDO, Ohio - Toledo men's basketball head coachÂ
Tod Kowalczyk announced Thursday that 6-foot-6, 210-pound guardÂ
Isaiah Adams (Jacksonville, Fla.) will transfer to the University of Toledo to join the Rockets' program next season. Adams has spent two years each at UCF (2020-22) and Buffalo (2022-24) and has one year of eligibility remaining.
"I have a tremendous amount of respect for Isaiah's talent level and competitiveness after seeing him play against us for the last two years in conference play," Kowalczyk said. "I told our players in our scouting reports that he was a first-team All-MAC caliber player. Isaiah is an extremely versatile player on both the offensive and defensive ends of the court. He can guard all five positions, score in the low post and knock down shots from the perimeter."
Adams started 25 of 26 games last year for Buffalo and was the Bulls' second-leading scorer with 12.8 ppg. He dished out a team-high 3.7 apg and ranked third on the team with 4.0 rpg. In two games vs. the Rockets, Adams averaged 21.5 ppg and 6.0 rpg with a 60.7 FG% (17-of-28) and a 41.7 three-point FG% (5-of-12).
Adams started all 32 games as a junior at Buffalo and averaged 11.6 ppg and 5.0 rpg.
As a freshman at UCF, he averaged 9.9 ppg and was named to the American Athletic Conference All-Freshman Team and received AAC Freshman of the Week honors on three occasions. He poured in a season-high 26 points at Tulane (Feb. 20) and 22 points at No. 15 Florida State (Dec. 19).
Adams will be one of five newcomers for the Rockets next season. He joins incoming freshmen Tyler Ode (Saginaw, Mich.) and Jaylan Ouwinga (Grand Rapids, Mich.) as well as transfers Seth Hubbard (Western Michigan) and Colin O'Rourke (Wis.-Parkside).
