TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo senior wide receiver Jerjuan Newton has been added to the Biletnikoff Award Watch List, the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation announced on Wednesday morning.
Â
Newton was named to the list after several top performances at wide receiver in recent weeks. He was recognized on the list for the second consecutive season, having been named during the 2023 preseason.
Â
Last Saturday vs. Bowling Green, Newton set career highs with nine receptions, 164 yards and a 64-yard catch which went for a touchdown. He hauled in two touchdown catches to reach 31 for his career, breaking Toledo's all-time receiving touchdown mark. He is also seventh in program history with 2,639 career receiving yards and 11th in career receptions with 177.
Â
This season, Newton has hauled in 43 receptions for 745 yards and 10 receiving touchdowns. He has eclipsed 100 receiving yards three times, all in Mid-American Conference games. The semifinalists, finalists and winner are determined by the Biletnikoff Award National Selection Committee, a committee of 600 prominent college football journalists, commentators, announcers, former award winners and former receivers. The semifinalists will be announced on Nov. 18, the three finalists on Nov. 26 and the winner on Dec. 12 at The Home Depot College Football Awards.
