Junior running back rushed for career-high 123 yards vs. San Jose State
TOLEDO, Ohio – Junior running back Peny Boone was named MAC West Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
Boone rushed for a career-high 123 yards in the 21-17 win vs. San Jose State on Saturday. The Detroit native was particularly outstanding in the second half, totaling 97 rushing yards after halftime and 80 yards in the fourth quarter to help seal the win. Saturday's performance was Boone's first collegiate 100-yard rushing game.
This is the first weekly MAC award of Boone's career.
Toledo opens MAC play this weekend at home vs. Western Michigan. Kickoff in the Glass Bowl is set for 1:30 p.m.
