
Dequan Finn Named to Davey O'Brien Award Watch List

Rocket junior on preseason list of nation's top quarterbacks
TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo junior quarterback Dequan Finn was named to the official watch list for the 2023 Davey O'Brien Award today.
The Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award is presented annually to the nation's best college quarterback. The 47th Annual Davey O'Brien Awards Dinner honoring the winner will be held Monday, Feb. 19, 2024, at The Fort Worth Club in Fort Worth, Texas.
Finn was previously named to the official watch list for the 2023Â Maxwell Award on July 31. The Maxwell Award has been given to America's College Player of the Year since 1937. It is the second consecutive season that Finn has made the Maxwell watch list.
As a sophomore last season, Finn completed 59.7 percent of his passes for 2,260 yards and 23 touchdowns to lead Toledo to a MAC Championship and a victory in the Roofclaim.com Boca Raton Bowl. Finn also rushed for 631 yards and nine touchdowns.
The midseason watch list for the Davey O'Brien Award will be announced on Tuesday, Oct. 31. Fan voting on social media (Facebook, Instagram and Twitter) will again play a role in the semifinalist, finalist and winner voting totals when combined with the national selection committee's ballots. Voting will begin on Oct. 31. The list of semifinalists selected from the QB Class will be named on Tuesday, Nov. 14. The Foundation will announce the three finalists two weeks later (Tuesday, Nov. 28). The 2023 Davey O'Brien Award winner will be unveiled live on ESPN on Thursday, Dec. 7, during The Home Depot College Football Awards.
