Toledo Football Announces Kickoff Times, TV Assignments for 2023 Season

Rockets open season at Illinois on Big Ten Network on Sept. 2; Home opener on Sept. 9 set for 3:30 p.m.

2023 Toledo Football Schedule

TOLEDO, Ohio – The University of Toledo announced game times and TV assignments for much of its 2023 football schedule today.
 
The defending MAC champion Rockets open their season on Saturday, Sept. 2 at Illinois in a 7:30 p.m. kickoff on the Big Ten Network.
 
Toledo will then host four consecutive Saturday games in the Glass Bowl. The Rockets' home opener is set for 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 9 vs. Texas Southern, followed by a 7:00 p.m. matchup in the Glass Bowl vs. San Jose State on Sept. 16. Toledo closes out the month of September with two home MAC contests vs. Western Michigan on Sept. 23 (game time TBA) and a 3:30 p.m. contest vs. Northern Illinois in the Homecoming Game on Sept. 30.
 
Game times for road contests at UMass (Oct. 7), Ball State (Oct. 14) and Miami (Oct. 21) will be announced later.
 
The Rockets return home for a pair of midweek MACtion contests vs. Buffalo on Tuesday, Oct. 31 and Eastern Michigan on Wednesday, Nov. 8. Both of those games will kick off at 7:00 or 7:30 p.m. with TV assignments to be announced. Toledo closes out the regular season with midweek games at Bowling Green (Nov. 14 at 7:00 p.m.) and Central Michigan (Nov. 24 at noon).
 
Toledo's schedule features six teams that played in bowl games in 2022: Illinois (ReliaQuest Bowl), San Jose State (Famous Idaho Potato Bowl), Miami (Hometown Lenders Bahamas Bowl), Eastern Michigan (Famous Idaho Potato Bowl), Buffalo (Camellia Bowl) and Bowling Green (Quick Lane Bowl).
 
Toledo, MAC West Division champion in 2022, defeated East Division champion Ohio, 17-7, in the MAC Championship Game at Ford Field in Detroit. The Rockets went on to defeat Liberty in the Roofclaim.com Boca Raton Bowl on their way to a 9-5 record.
 
Head Coach Jason Candle's Rockets return seven All-MAC players from last year's team, including junior quarterback Dequan Finn and All-American cornerback Quinyon Mitchell.
