Pawit Sornlaksup keeps his winning streak alive at 35 matches and 14-straight conference matches
BUFFALO, NY – The Toledo men's tennis team opened its weekend with a 5-2 victory vs. Buffalo on Friday afternoon in the UB Tennis Center, evening out at 2-2 in Mid-American Conference play and 10-5 overall.
"That was another MAC match in the books and another pressure-filled close one in the books," head coach Al Wermer said.Â
Toledo took a 1-0 match lead, securing the double point thanks to wins on the No. 1 and No. 3 doubles courts.Â
Pawit Sornlaksup started off singles play with a dominant two-set win from the top court to put the Rockets ahead 2-0 in the match. The win moved his winning streak to 35 straight matches and conference winning streak to 14 straight.
Buffalo got its first point with a win at the No. 3 court. Luis Kleinschnitz then won in two sets from the No. 6 court to put Toledo knocking on the door of clinching the match. Krzysztof Wetoszka won his first set from the No. 2 court, dropped the second set, and then clinched the match point for the Rockets with the third-set win. In the same fashion as Wetoszka, Adam Kovac picked up a three-set win at the No. 4 court. Buffalo's only other win came out of a three-set battle from the No. 5 court.
Toledo will stay in New York state for its next match with Binghamton (4-14, 0-3 MAC) on Sunday, March 26 at 10:00 a.m.
