Junior matches career low with seven-under par 203

ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – Junior Barend Botha registered his best career finish ever for the Toledo men's golf team on Tuesday with a runner-up showing in The Johnnie-O at Sea Island Invitational. Botha matched his career-best under-par score by finishing with a seven-under par 203 on the par-70, 7,005-yard Seaside Course at the Sea Island Golf Club.

As a team, the Rockets finished tied for eighth place with Iowa and Memphis. All 13 teams in the tournament field were ranked in the Top 100 of Golfstat's rankings.

Botha finished second in the field with 13 birdies and was tied for first in par-three scoring at two-under par.

Junior Jamie Tofte Nielsen tied for 45th place at nine-over par 219 (72-70-77), while senior Palmer Yenrick tied for 50th place at 10-over par 220 (76-72-72. Rounding out the Rocket lineup were senior NJ Botha (T-69th/80-73-73=22) and freshman Mason Deal (T-78th/78-80=158).

Freshman Bence Kotel competed as an individual and tied for 55th place at 12-over 222 (74-74-74).

Toledo returns to action on Sunday-Monday, March 26-27 when it travels to Wilmington, N.C. for UNCW's Seahawk Intercollegiate.
