Senior has shot par or better in 12 of 13 rounds this fall

CARMEL, Calif. – Senior Barend Botha shot a three-under par 69 to lead the Toledo men's golf team in Monday's opening round of the Cal Poly Invitational. Teams still need to finish the second round at the par-72, 7,138-yard The Preserve Golf Club due to a frost delay this morning.

Botha played his first 12 holes at one-over par before stringing together four consecutive birdies to give him 12 rounds of par or better this fall.

Sophomore Mads Jensen carded a three-over par 75 in his opening round, while senior Jamie Tofte Nielsen and junior CJ van Wyk each shot a four-over par 76. Rounding out the Rocket lineup is senior Palmer Yenrick with an 82.

The tournament's third and final round will begin tomorrow following the completion of the second round.
