VERO BEACH, Fla. – Seniors
Barend Botha and
Palmer Yenrick both shot a school-record 13-under par 203 to tie for first place on Monday at the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational and lead the Toledo men's golf team to a second-place finish. Botha and Yenrick lost a tiebreaker for third-round score with USF's Brock Healy for individual champion.
The Rockets finished in second place as a team at the par-72, 7,350-yard Quail Valley Golf Club with a school-record 54-hole total of 37-under par 827, eight strokes lower than its previous record set last year at Quail Valley. UT also tied an 18-hole school record in Sunday's second round with a 16-under par 272.
"We felt really comfortable with this group going into this week," Head Coach
Jeff Roope said. "They all work hard, are a very experienced group and have good chemistry. They're all really talented players and people. Barend and Palmer both had outstanding tournaments, and while we are so proud of them I'm sure that they're even a little bit disappointed with one shot separating us both from an outright individual win and a team win. We couldn't be happier with how they went toe-to-toe with the entire field chasing them and battled until the last putt dropped."
Seniors

th and 32
nd place, respectively.
Sophomore
Mads Jensen rounded out the Rockets' lineup by tying for 60
th place at three-over par 219 (76-68-75).
Toledo will wrap up its fall season in two weeks when it travels to Carmel, Calif. for the Cal Poly Invitational on Oct. 30-31.
