Rockets Shut Out Indiana State, 3-0, for First Win of the Season

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Toledo captured its first victory of the season with a 3-0 shutout against Indiana State at Memorial Stadium Sunday afternoon.

All three of Toledo's goals came in the second half. Graduate student Morgan Otteson scored two second-half goals, the second coming at the 83-minute mark that gave the Rockets a 3-0 cushion. Graduate student Ashton Cassel also scored at the 81-minute mark.

The Rockets, who tied with Purdue Fort Wayne 1-1 on Thursday, are now 1-1-2 on the season.

"Our team played really strong today for 90 minutes in very hot conditions," Head Coach TJ Buchholz said. "Our defense really battled and limited a good Indiana State team to only four shots all game. I am proud of the poise our offense showed in the final third. They weren't able to break through in the first half with a goal, but they continued to press and attack. To get three goals in the second half was outstanding. We have a lot of positives to build on today to move forward."
