TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo men's tennis team will be back in action this weekend at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division I Midwest Regional Championships in Champaign, Ill. on Oct. 20-24.

"Development, in all forms, is the fabric of our program," head coach Al Wermer said. "I'd love to have lots of guys playing deep in the tournament, and I wouldn't be shocked. But we need to stay on the process of improving, and this provides a great platform for that."

The Rockets will compete in both singles and doubles in the double-elimination style draw tournament. Seniors Marko Galic, Luis Kleinschnitz, and Krzysztof Wetoszka, juniors Adam Kovac, Vlad Meluta and Pawit Sornlaksup, and freshman Matias Olivero are making the trip to Champaign to represent Toledo. The Round of 32 qualifier will begin Thursday at 9:00 a.m., followed by the Round of 16 qualifiers at 1:30 p.m.

Sornalskup and Galic automatically qualified for the main singles draw that will begin on Saturday morning and will also play as a double team. The other five Rockets will begin competition on Thursday.

At the 2021 ITA Midwest Regionals, Wetoszka made it to the final round of qualifiers to the main singles draw but was defeated by CSU's Kade Mindry. Sornlaksup automatically qualified and participated in the main singles draw and was defeated by Michigan's Patrick Malony.
