TOLEDO, Ohio – Alivia Forshey will serve as an assistant coach for the University of Toledo softball program, head coach Joe Abraham announced today.

"Liv is full of enthusiasm and raring to go," Abraham said. "That's what you need from a young coach. Somebody who is full of energy and wants to learn and go to work. I have already heard from several people in the softball community about what a great hire this is, so we couldn't be more excited to have Liv here."

"I am very excited to get started with the team and work with Joe (Abraham) and (assistant coach) Darrick (Brown) this season!" Forshey said. "There is a winning culture of being a good player and an even better person here, and I am thrilled to join that."

A former three-time NFCA Scholar Athlete as an infielder at Bowling Green State University, Forshey joins the Rockets after serving as an assistant coach at the University of Sioux Falls since last August and the graduate assistant at North Dakota State University for two seasons.

At Sioux Falls, Forshey assisted the head coach in working with infielders, outfielders, and hitters. She was also the academic coordinator for the team and organized the Cougar softball camps.

In her two seasons with NDSU, the Bison won 23 games, including the shortened 2020 season. Under her advisory, five players were named to the Summit League Academic All-League Team, two were placed on the CoSIDA Academic All-District Softball Team, and one was named to the Summit League Softball All-Tournament Team. Forshey also coordinated the fall hitting academy in 2019.

Forshey's coaching resume includes being an assistant coach for the Beverly Bandits travel organization during the summer of 2021 as well as working camps for CCSC, Total Sports Complex, the Ballyard and various college teams. She gave hitting and fielding lessons at the Ballyard for two years and at Total Sports Complex for one year.

Forshey spent her collegiate softball career at Bowling Green (2015-18), where she was an infielder and outfielder. Off the field, she was a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma and the National College Athlete Honor Society. In high school, she set the Canton South High School single season record for RBIs, home runs and slugging percentage.

A native of Canton, Ohio, Forshey graduated from Bowling Green State University in 2018.
