Toledo, Ohio – The University of Toledo's 2021 football schedule was released today, with six contests on the home slate for the Rockets, including four Mid-American Conference games in the Glass Bowl.
Â
Toledo opens the season at home on Sept. 4 with a matchup vs. FCS opponent Norfolk State before heading to Notre Dame on Sept. 11 for its first-ever meeting vs. the Fighting Irish. The Rockets' other two non-conference games include a battle in the Glass Bowl vs. Colorado State of the Mountain West Conference on Sept. 18 and a trip to FBS independent UMass on Oct. 2.
Â
The Rockets will host four Mid-American Conference opponents: Northern Illinois in the Homecoming game on Oct. 9, Western Michigan on Oct. 23, Eastern Michigan on Nov. 2 and Akron on Nov. 27. The road MAC games are at defending MAC champion Ball State (Sept. 25), Central Michigan (Oct. 16), Bowling Green (Nov. 10) and Ohio (Nov. 16).
Â
National television assignments for all Toledo games will be announced at a later date.
Â
Head Coach Jason Candle's 2021 squad returns every starter on offense and defense from last season's squad, including six All-MAC players and junior running back Bryant Koback, who has rushed for 2,626 yards and 30 touchdowns in his college career. The Rockets were 4-2 in 2020, with only a pair of three-point losses to Ball State and Western Michigan preventing them from a trip to the MAC Championship Game.
Â
Season ticket information and attendance policies will be announced soon. For more information, call 419-530-GOLD (4653) or go online at UTRockets.com.
