TOLEDO, Ohio -Â Senior center and team captainÂ
Bryce Harris has been named a candidate for the Senior CLASS Award, one of 30 candidates announced on Friday. It is the second consecutive season that Harris has been a finalist for the award.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I FBS senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.
A three-time team captain, Harris is on the preseason watch list for the Rimington Trophy as nation's top center, and the Outland Trophy as nation's top down lineman. He has played in 49 games in his Rocket career, starting 44 times.
Off the field, Harris is three-time Acdemic All-MAC selection. He graduated in May of 2019 with his bachelor's degree in psychology with a minor in school counseling. He is currently pursuing his master's degree in counselor education. He has been an active participant in the football program's many community service events. While pursuing his postgraduate degree in counselor education, Harris has been counseling high school students at St. John's Jesuit High School.
From the list of 30 candidates, a national committee will select 10 finalists for the 2021 Senior CLASS Award. Those 10 names will then be placed on the official ballot for a nationwide vote. Fan balloting will be coupled with votes from coaches and media to determine the recipient of the award. Â
