Ellie Pool scored late in the first half but Toledo could not hold the lead in a 1-1 tie against Eastern Michigan on Sunday,
The game was scoreless until four seconds left in the opening half when Pool put the Rockets up 1-0 with an unassisted goal. The sophomore forward found an opening in the upper right corner of the net above Eagle goalkeeper Rebecca Przybylo. Toledo (9-4-3, 4-3-1 MAC) held the one-goal margin for nearly the entire second half until EMU (2-10-3, 1-5-2 MAC) tied the game with 70 seconds left in regulation to send the contest into overtime. Neither team could score in overtime, giving the Rockets their third draw of the season.
"We had good chances today, but we didn't do enough in front of the goal to get a second goal," head coach
TJ Buchholz said. "I give credit to Eastern's defense for making great plays all day. We will take the point on the road and get back to getting better this week in the attack."
Toledo's next game will be its final home match of the regular season on Thursday, Oct. 21 against Akron. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at Paul Hotmer Field.
