TOLEDO, Ohio - The University of Toledo's women's and men's cross country teams will compete against some of the best teams in the country at the NCAA Pre-Nationals in Tallahassee, Fla. on Friday, Oct. 15. Florida State University will host the meet, as well as the NCAA Championships Meet on Nov. 20.

The women will compete in the Garnet race against some of the top teams in the nation at 8:35 a.m. while the men will compete in the open race at 9:10 a.m.

Head Coach Andrea Grove-McDonough said her men's and women's teams are eager to face elite competition from around the country.

"We are really looking forward to facing teams outside of our region and conference," said Grove McDonough. "On the women's side we will finally have a complete lineup on the starting line. It's a great opportunity to see how we stack up against many of the best teams in the country. Once again, we will face a number of nationally ranked programs which brings the opportunity to get some important wins against potential NCAA qualifying programs. It's also a chance to get a look at the course for this year's NCAA championships, which we definitely hope to qualify for.

"For the men, we are looking forward to the opportunity to bounce back from the Joe Piane Invite (on Oct. 1). We felt we underperformed as a squad so the guys are eager to really show what they are capable of."

Members of the men's and women's teams who are not traveling to Tallahassee will compete at the Falcon Invitational in Bowling Green on Saturday, Oct. 16. The men's race will be at 11:00 a.m. and the women will compete at noon.
