TOLEDO, Ohio — The University of Toledo Athletic Department announced the additions of Devin Cassity and Tony Rossi to its athletic training staff on Wednesday. Cassity will work primarily with the Rockets' baseball and football programs, while Rossi will assist the football and men's tennis teams.

"As we continue to navigate this healthcare pandemic, I truly appreciate the support Dr. Gregory Postel and Mike O'Brien have given our department," said Associate Athletic Director for Sports Medicine Brian Jones. "Adding Devin and Tony to our sports medicine staff allows us to continue to provide fantastic healthcare to our student-athletes during these unprecedented times. Devin brings a tremendous amount of baseball-specific knowledge to our team. His experiences at Murray State as well as a baseball player himself will be a true benefit for our staff. Tony is a fantastic young professional with a wealth of experience at both the collegiate and professional level. His experiences with football, as well as his willingness to be a team player, will add to our already strong and vibrant sports medicine family."

Cassity comes to Toledo from Murray State, where he spent three years as an athletic training graduate assistant and intern. He worked with the Racers' football and baseball teams each for three seasons and also worked with the softball program in the fall of 2017. Cassity graduated with his master's degree in human development and leadership from Murray State in May 2019.

Prior to that, Cassity earned his bachelor's degree in athletic training from Roanoke College in May 2017. While at Roanoke, he completed clinical rotations with football, field hockey, softball, men's soccer, and women's lacrosse as a junior and senior. Cassity also worked as an athletic training intern at Radford and Virginia Tech during the summer of 2016. He was a member of the Roanoke baseball program as well, appearing in 68 games during his playing career.

Rossi joins the Rockets after spending time out west working with the Denver Broncos and the University of Colorado football program. Rossi joined the Colorado athletic training team after spending two years as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Oklahoma State, where he worked with the Cowboys' football program. He also spent a summer as an athletic training intern with the Stanford University football program.

Rossi completed his bachelor's degree in athletic training at Illinois State, graduating in 2016 with honors program designated scholar status. While at ISU, he served as the president of the athletic training club and did clinical rotations with the football, softball, men's basketball, and women's volleyball teams. Rossi received his master's degree in health & human performance/applied exercise science in 2018.
