TOLEDO, Ohio —
University of Toledo senior offensive lineman
Bryce Harris has been named to the official watch list for the Rimington Trophy, the Rimington Trophy Committee announced today.
The Rimington Trophy is presented annually to the most outstanding center in NCAA Division I Football. Because of COVID-19 and the ever-changing guidelines of in-person events, details of the annual presentation will be announced when confirmed. Dave Rimington, the award's namesake, was a consensus first-team All-America center at the University of Nebraska in 1981 and 1982, during which time he became the John Outland Trophy's only two-time winner as the nation's finest college interior lineman.
Harris is expected to be the Rockets' starting center this season. He missed all of last season due to injury. He was a 2018 second-team All-MAC selection at center. He has appeared in 38 games as an offensive lineman at center and guard, starring 33. In 2018, he was part of an offensive line that helped the Rockets lead the MAC in scoring (40.4) and rank second in total offense (443.8) and rushing (215.9).
Earlier this fall, Harris was named a semifinalist for the Campbell Trophy by the National Football Foundation. The award has recognized the best football scholar-athlete in the nation every year since 1990. Harris graduated with a bachelor's degree in psychology with a 3.509 grade point average in 2019. He currently holds a 3.797 GPA in the College of Graduate Studies, where he is studying school counseling.
