TOLEDO, Ohio - The University of Toledo women's tennis team hits the road to challenge Towson and West Virginia in Morgantown, W.Va. this weekend. The Rockets will play Towson on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. and West Virginia on Sunday at 10:00 a.m. Both matches will be held at the Ridgeview Racquet Club. Â

Scouting Towson
Saturday will mark the Rockets' first encounter with Towson. The Tigers are 1-2 (0-0 CAA) on the season, with a 4-3 win over Saint Francis and losses to Virginia and Maryland.Â

Returning for the Tigers is sophomore Phoebe Collins, who went 13-7 (4-0 CAA) last year, primarily from the No. 5 court and 11-11 (3-1 CAA) in doubles, splitting time between the No. 2 and No. 3 courts. Fellow sophomore Themis Haliou went 11-8 (2-2 CAA) in doubles from the No. 2 court and posted a 7-11 (2-2) singles record.Â

Towson went 13-13 (3-2 CAA) last year, with sweeps of La Salle, Saint Katherine, California (Pa.), Maryland Eastern Shore, and Coppin State. The Tigers edged out Concordia Irvine, UNC Wilmington, Drexel, and Villanova, 4-3. In the CAA Championships, No. 2 seeded JMU swept No. 7 seeded Towson, 4-0. Â

Junior Anne-Sophie Courteau returns for the Mountaineers after going 12-8 (2-5 Big 12) in dual singles last season, primarily from the No. 5 court. Courteau posted a 10-5 (2-2 Big 12) doubles record, splitting her time between the No. 1 and No. 3 courts. Sophomore Anastasia Bovolskaia went 11-9 (2-7 Big 12) in singles mainly from the No. 4 court.Â

Last season the Mountaineers went 10-12 (0-9 Big 12), posting 7-0 sweeps of Niagara, Binghamton, California (Pa.), and Towson. WVU met MAC opponents Buffalo and Akon in February, defeating the Buffalo 6-1 and the Zips 4-3. In the Big 12 Championship, No. 10 seeded West Virginia fell 4-0 to No. 7 seeded Kansas State.Â
