COLUMBUS, Ohio. - The University of Toledo women's cross country team finished tenth with 260 points at the Buckeye Preview in Columbus, Ohio, Saturday morning.
"The women had a tough day on the course with some of our top women struggling a bit," said head coach Andrea Grove-McDonough. "The illness that has run through our team the last week seemed to take a toll today on our results. Bright spots were the great race Stephanie Sherman had to lead us today and knowing we still have a few athletes to put in the lineup is reassuring. I was proud that the women kept fighting and didn't give up on the race."
Senior Stephanie Sherman set the pace for the Rockets, finishing 43rd with a time of 22:11.1. Junior Michelle Hostettler followed, stopping the clock at 22:14.7 to take 49th and sophomore Claire Steigerwald was the third Rocket to cross the finish line, clocking a time of 22:43.5 to take 72nd.
