Toledo, Ohio - Twelve Toledo women's swimming and diving student-athletes were named to the Mid-American Conference's Academic All-MAC team, the league announced on Friday. Nine of the Rockets' honorees are receiving the honor for the first time in their careers.

"I'm really proud of our swimmers and divers for their academic achievements," Persson said. "They work so hard in the pool and in the classroom, so it's nice that they re recognized for all of their hard work. We put a lot of emphasis on being a true student-athlete, and this is proof of that."

Jessica Avery, Bailey Cahill, Lisa Eriksson, Corinne Harris, Jordyn Polderman, Alida Ramden, Emma Sampson, Ally Sperring, Gracie Storm, Kristen Straszacker, Bec Welke and Elayna Yoskovich represent the Midnight Blue and Gold on this year's team. Ramden recorded the best grade point average of all UT swimmers after receiving a perfect 4.0, and this marks the third time both Avery and Cahill have been honored.

The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport.
