Toledo, Ohio – University of Toledo cornerback
Ka'dar Hollman (Burlington, N.J.) was selected by the Green Bay Packers in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft on Saturday.
"This is a dream come true for me," said Hollman. "I've been dreaming of playing the NFL since I started playing football when I was eight years old. When they called my name, so many emotions were going through me. I just thought about the path that brought me here."
Hollman, the 185th overall pick of the draft, is the second Rocket to be taken in this year's draft and the sixth to be drafted in the past three years. Teammate
Diontae Johnson was chosen in the third round by Pittsburgh yesterday. Kareem Hunt (third round), Michael Roberts (fourth) and Treyvon Hester (seventh) were selected in the 2017 draft, while Logan Woodside was chosen in the seventh round of last year's draft.
For his career, Hollman compiled 114 tackles, two interceptions and 27 pass breakups. As a senior, he had a career-best 43 tackles and tied for the MAC lead with 12 pass breakups.
Hollman came to Toledo as a walk-on, but eventually earned a scholarship and became a three-year starter at cornerback.
"I never stopped believing in myself," said Hollman. "I thought about my goal of playing in the NFL all the time. It's what motivated me, kept me going. I always knew I could play if I was given the opportunity."
Hollman said he is excited to undertake the next challenge in his life.
"It''s a new chapter in my life and I'm ready to take it head on," he said. "I'm prepared to work to become a better football player and a better man. That's a very talented cornerback room at Green Bay so I'm going to have to work even harder than ever."
