COLUMBUS, Ohio – Senior
Duncan McNeill fired a one-under par 70 and battled cold, rainy and wet conditions on Friday and is tied for second place after the opening round of Ohio State's Robert Kepler Intercollegiate. McNeill's play has propelled the Toledo men's golf team to a sixth-place standing with a team total of 22-over par 306 heading into tomorrow's final round.
Thirty-six holes were originally scheduled as part of today's action, but the second round was canceled on OSU's par-71, 7,455-yard Scarlet Course after approximately four holes. Play will resume tomorrow with a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start.Â
McNeill played his first seven holes at even-par, but back-to-back birdies put him in the red midway through his round. He closed out his round with eight pars and a bogey to make him just one of three golfers to finish under par.
Junior
Rasmus Broholt Lind is competing as an individual and tied for 14
th place with a four-over par 75. Lind wasn't able to collect any birdies during his round but registered just four bogeys.
"The weather was just about as bad as I've experienced as a coach in which our team still had to play," Head Coach
Jeff Roope said. "Duncan and Rasmus showed tremendous resilience in the face of such adverse conditions. I'm guessing their Scottish and Danish heritage had a little something to do with their success."
