TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's golf team will compete in the 2019 Mid-American Conference Championships this weekend in Noblesville, Ind. The three-day tournament includes 10 schools and will be held Friday-Sunday, April 19-21, at the par-72, 5,991-yard Purgatory Golf Club. The event will consist of three rounds with 18 holes being played each day.
The Rockets had an opportunity to see the championship course last October when they placed second in the MAC Preview. Senior
Natcha Daengpiem led UT by capturing her first collegiate tournament title with a career-best four-under par 212 (71-66-75). Toledo finished just two strokes behind champion Xavier with a 21-over par 885.
"Seeing the course in the fall was a great introduction to how it can play with any weather," Head Coach
Jenny Coluccio said. "That experience will be beneficial knowledge for our team and helped direct our practice for this week as well."
Coluccio said it will be important for her squad to remain even-keeled throughout the tournament to achieve the best possible result.
"The keys to our success is to stay patient and focused on the plan," Coluccio said. "We can't allow emotion or situations to dictate our decision-making. The course could bring us any situation, and we are prepared to expect the unexpected this weekend."
