GERMANTOWN, Tenn. – The Toledo women's golf team sits in fifth place after carding a 26-over par 594 in Monday's opening two rounds of the Memphis Women's Intercollegiate. Senior
Pinyada Kuvanun is leading the way for the Rockets on the par-71, 6,105-yard Ridgeway Country Club with a one-over par 143 (71-72) and is tied for sixth place.
Kuvanun led the Rockets with five birdies and didn't move a stroke below or above par during all 36 holes today.
"Pinyada was very focused and committed all day," Head Coach
Jenny Coluccio said. "She played simple golf and was aggressive when she had the opportunity. Her putting was very reliable as well."
Senior
Pimchanok Kawil is two strokes behind Kuvanun and tied for 13
th place at three-over par 145 (75-70). An eagle on the par-four, 405-yard 16
th hole helped card UT's best round of the day with a one-under 70 in the afternoon.
"Pim was very committed to trusting her instinct all day," Head Coach
Jenny Coluccio said. "She made a lot of strong par saves and never wavered from her play. Her eagle on the 16th hole was so well struck that it was great to see her rewarded by the ball going in the hole!"
Junior
Donchanok Toburint put together two solid rounds from the No. 5 spot in the Rockets' lineup and is tied for 39
th place at 11-over par 153 (77-76). Senior
Natcha Daengpiem is tied for 46
th place at 12-over par 154 (76-78), while junior
Saranlak Tumfong is tied for 52
nd place at 13-over par 155 (78-77).
No. 51 Penn State is leading the 14-team field at two-under par 566, five strokes in front of second-place Middle Tennessee's three-over par 571 (289-282). Host Memphis is in third place at 10-over par 578 (290-288). The Nittany Lions' Megan McLean leads all individuals with a five-under par 137 (70-67).
The tournament's final round will be held beginning with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
