TOLEDO, Ohio— University of Toledo senior kick returner
Ronnie Jones (Pittsburgh, Pa.) was named the Mid-American Conference West Division Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance in Toledo's game at Buffalo on Nov. 20.
Jones had three kickoff returns for 110 yards in the 49-30 loss to the Bulls. The Rockets scored points on two drives that started with his long kickoff returns. His 54-yard kickoff return in the first quarter was his career long. He added a 41-yard return in the second quarter, his fourth of the season of 40 yards or more.
It is the second time this season Jones has been named West Division Special Teams Player of the Week. He also earned the honor following the Eastern Michigan game on Oct. 26.
The Rockets (6-5, 3-4 MAC) travel to Central Michigan (7-4, 5-2 MAC) this Friday, Nov. 29 (Noon/ESPNU).
