NORTON, Ohio - The University of Toledo women's cross country team finished first at the All-Ohio Championships on Saturday with 27 points. The meet was hosted by the University of Akron.
"Today was a very good day for the women," head coach Linh Nguyen said, "We again focused on being controlled at the start and finishing strong. The goal coming in was to run for the team win and they did a great job of that."Â
Junior
Athena Welsh captured the individual crown with a time of 21:01.5 with senior
Jennifer Lichter securing second (21:24.0) for the Midnight Blue and Gold.Â
"The course is pretty challenging but they ran really tough. Athena (Welsh) continued her strong season with the individual win and Jenn (Lichter) ran great to lock up second," Nguyen added.
