Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Rockets Fall 2-0 to Ball State

Muncie, Ind. - The Toledo women's soccer team (4-4-1, 0-1 MAC) fell 2-0 to Ball State (5-1-1, 1-0 MAC) today in the Rockets' first match of the Mid-American Conference season.

"Credit to Ball State on the day," head coach TJ Buchholz said. "They did a great job of executing on their dead ball situations. I thought we had some good offensive moments in the game, but couldn't get one in the back of the net. We will learn from this loss and try and regroup against a good Miami team on Sunday."

The Rockets jumped on the attack quickly, with sophomore Alex Troy putting two shots on goal in the opening six minutes. Both shots went high though and UT recollected.

Ball State opened scoring in the 10th minute. Senior Lauren Roll nodded in the opening goal off a BSU corner to put her side up 1-0.

The Cardinals kept the pressure on, taking another eight chances at frame before the halftime whistle blew. The first half ended with Toledo recording two shots and four saves to BSU's nine shots and zero saves.

The second half started where the first left off. Ball State put four shots on frame in the first five minutes. Troy and sophomore Sophia Lewis fought back for UT, with each putting a shot on frame but neither was able to find the back of the net.

The Rockets battled on, putting shots up in the 71st and 81st minutes but were unable to get a score before the final whistle.
