Toledo in Ninth Place After Day One of Mary Fossum Invitational

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Senior Pinyada Kuvanun carded an even-par 144 (73-71) on Saturday to help the University of Toledo women's golf team to a ninth-place standing following the first day of the Mary Fossum Invitational. The tournament consists of seven teams that qualified for the 2018 NCAA Regionals and is being played at the par-72, 6,334 Forest Akers West Golf Course.

Virginia leads the 16-team field at five-under par 571 (281-290) and holds a three-shot lead over Georgia (292-282) and Florida (289-285). The Cavaliers' Anna Redding sits atop the individual leaderboard at seven-under par 137 (69-68).

Toledo shot 20-over par 596 (301-295) as a team by registering a six-stroke improvement from its first to second round.

Kuvanun is tied for 11th place in the talent-laden field and is just three strokes out of third place. After posting a one-over 73 and two birdies in her opening round, Kuvanun collected four birdies en route to a one-under 71 in her final 18 holes.

Seniors Natcha Daengpiem (73-75) and Pimchanok Kawil (74-74) are tied for 28th place at four-over par 148. Daengpiem tallied three straight birdies in her opening round and was one-under through eight holes before settling for a one-over 73. Kawil was on her way to shooting under par in the second round but was saddled by two bogeys and a triple bogey in her final three holes.

Rounding out the Rocket lineup are juniors Saranlak Tumfong (T-69th/81-75=156) and Donchanok Toburint (90th/90-88=178).
