Toledo, Ohio— Junior outfielder Ross Adolph has been named Mid-American Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
Adolph was an offensive force last weekend during Toledo's three-game series at Cincinnati. He hit .583 (7-for-12) and slugged an incredible 1.583, a figure driven by his three home runs against the Bearcats. Five of his seven hits went for extra bases and he had at least two hits in all three games this weekend. Adolph led the Rockets in hitting, slugging, on-base percentage (.667), runs scored (six), RBIs (six), and total bases (19).
In Saturday's 13-7 win, the junior went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and three runs scored, ending his day a single away from the cycle. His home run in the top of the ninth inning was the second of back-to-back dingers for the Rockets, the first time UT went back-to-back since the 2010 season. Adolph also drove in three runs in Toledo's close 9-8 loss on Sunday, slugging two round trippers, the first multi-home run game of his career.
Behind Adolph's power, Toledo ranks first in the MAC in home runs (19) and slugging (.424). He is hitting .333 this season with six home runs and 16 RBIs. He leads the MAC in home runs and slugging percentage (.725) through the first month of the season.
Adolph and the rest of the Rockets return home to play Youngstown State this Wednesday, March 21 at 3:05 p.m. before traveling to Kalamazoo to open MAC play with Western Michigan (March 23-25).
