TOLEDO, Ohio — The University of Toledo women's golf team concludes its busy month of October this weekend with its second trip to the Bluegrass State in three weeks. The Rockets will be competing in the Cardinal Cup for a second straight year at the par-72, 6,303-yard University of Louisville Golf Club in Simpsonville, Ky. The first day of play will consist of 36 holes beginning with a 9:15 a.m. shotgun start. The final 18 holes on Sunday will begin with a 9:15 a.m. shotgun start as well.
This weekend's tourney will be the Rockets' third event in the last three weeks. UT placed sixth at Kentucky's Bettie Lou Evans Invitational on Oct. 5-7 before finishing two strokes out of first at the MAC Preview on Oct. 14-15.
"Playing three weeks in a row can be a challenge if you aren't mentally and physically prepared," first-year head coach
Jenny Coluccio said. "This is a great test for our team for those reasons exactly. We will be testing all the hard work they have put into their physical training over the past two months. I have a lot of faith in their ability to handle the stretch mentally. They are stronger now and ready for the challenge."
The Rockets have already posted some of the best rounds in school history just three tournaments into the season. UT's team score of 882 at Kentucky is tied for fifth in school history, while its 885 at the MAC Preview is tied for ninth. In addition, Toledo's two-under 286 in the second round of the MAC Preview is its second-best round ever, and its 288 in the first round of the same event is tied for third.
"I'm very pleased with everyone's progression thus far even though it hasn't all shown in all their scores yet," Coluccio said. "We have continued to focus on "little by little" and committing to make small improvements each day and seeing how those will turn into large gains by the end of the season."
Senior
Pinyada Kuvanun leads the Rockets with an impressive 72.4 stroke average and is followed closely by classmates
Pimchanok Kawil and
Natcha Daengpiem with 73.7 and 74.1 marks, respectively. The trio will be joined in the Rockets' lineup by junior
