Toledo, Ohio— A pair of former Rocket baseball players are rejoining the program in a coaching capacity.
Dalton Bollinger will be joining the Toledo baseball program as a student assistant, while Matt Hansen will be the team's new volunteer assistant. The moves round out UT's coaching staff for the upcoming 2019 season. Both Bollinger and Hansen wrapped up their collegiate careers this past spring.
Bollinger appeared in 197 games as a Rocket, hitting .281 with 60 extra-base hits and 116 career RBIs, and his 43 career doubles are sixth most in program history. He was a 2015 Second-Team All-MAC selection as a freshman in 2015, when he hit .308 with 19 RBIs and 21 runs scored. He hit .330 in MAC games that season as well.
A team captain in 2018, Hansen suited up in 204 games with Toledo during his career, tallying 182 hits and driving in 107 runs. His 87 career walks are tied for fourth most in school history. All 204 of his appearances were as either the starting second baseman or shortstop. Last season, he hit a career-best .290 and owned a .401 on-base percentage.
Bollinger and Hansen were the coaches for the Blue and Gold teams, respectively, in last week's Blue & Gold World Series. Hansen's Gold squad won all three contests.
