ST. PAUL, Minn. - Junior Jennifer Lichter crossed the finish line in 22:34, 28th place to lead the Rockets to an 11th-place mark in the Roy Griak Invitational at Les Bolstad Golf Course on Saturday.
Due to weather conditions and timing and scoring malfunctions, all results are unofficial at this time.
"I'm extremely happy with Jen's first race of the season," said Toledo head coach Linh Nguyen. "She started slow and moved her way from 115th to 24th at the end of the race. That's smart racing."
Unofficially, sophomore Zita Molnar was the second Rocket to finish the race. Molnar completed her run in 22:56 for a 47th-place score.
Senior Stephanie Barlow and freshman Michelle Hostettler clocked 23:23 and 23:34, respectively, to cross the line in 64th and 65th place.
"Zita stepped up in a big way today," continued Nguyen. "The rest of the team had a very strong meet."
Senior Joan Jepkirui ran a 23:43, finishing 77th, to round out the scoring for the Midnight Blue & Gold.
"Joan has been a little banged up," said Nguyen. "We were without Athena (Welsh) and Petronela (Simiuc), so all things considered, I think we came away with a solid result."
San Francisco unofficial won the meet by sweeping the top four positions.
The lone Mid-American Conference competition for Toledo was Northern Illinois, which unofficially took 13th place as a team.
The women's cross country team sets its sights on the All-Ohio Championships at Cedarville University on Sept. 29.
