Pimchanok Kawil Ties School Record at Golfweek Conference Challenge

WOLCOTT, CO – Sophomore Pimchanok Kawil tied a school record on Wednesday with a five-under par 67 at the Golfweek Conference Challenge to help Toledo register its best round of the tournament. The event was held at the par-72, 6,261-yard Red Sky Golf Club.

Kawil surpassed her previous best as a Rocket by two strokes which she registered in the second round of the 2016 Mid-American Conference Championships. The previous two UT golfers who carded 67s were Sathika Ruenreong at the 2014 Central District Invitational and Tammy Clelland at the 2006 Shootout at the Legends.

Kawil finished the tournament tied for 23rd place at five-over par 221 after shooting identical rounds of 77s prior to her record-tying performance. She was flawless throughout today's entire round and finished with five birdies.

Sophomore Pinyada Kuvanun and junior Napaphan Phongpaiboon also registered their best round of the tournament for Toledo. Kuvanun shot a three-over par 75 to finish tied for 52nd place at 12-over par 228 (76-77-75), while Phongpaiboon posted a two-over par 74 to tie for 75th place at 20-over par 236 (84-78-74).

Rounding out the Rocket lineup were sophomores Natcha Daengpiem (T-83rd/85-78-79=242) and Hannah Kochendoerfer (88th/89-77-80=246).

Toledo finished in 15th place as a team at 62-over par 926 in a field consisting of top programs from 18 different conferences. The Rockets (322-309-295) improved their team stroke total by 13 strokes in the second round followed by another 14 shots in the final round.

San Diego State won the tournament title for a second-straight year at two-over par 866 (287-280-299) and finished eight strokes in front of Pepperdine and Denver.
UT will return to action on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 10-11 when it hosts the Rocket Classic for a fourth consecutive year at the Catawba Island Club in Port Clinton, OH.
