
Kareem Hunt Named to Official Watch List for Maxwell Award

           TOLEDO, OH – Toledo senior running back Kareem Hunt (Willoughby, OH) was today named to the official Watch List for the 2016 Maxwell Award. The Maxwell Award, named in honor of Robert W. "Tiny" Maxwell, has been given to America's College Player of the Year since 1937.
           Hunt, a two-time All-MAC pick, rushed for 973 yards and 12 touchdowns in nine games in 2015. As a sophomore in 2014, Hunt gained 1,631 yards and ranked second in the country in yards per carry with 7.96. He capped his season by running for 271 yards and five TDs in Toledo's 63-44 victory over Arkansas State in the GoDaddy Bowl.
           Semifinalists will be announced on Oct. 31, and three finalists will be announced on Nov. 21. The winner will be named on Dec. 8 as part of the Home Depot College Football Awards Show. For more information on the Maxwell Award, go to www.maxwellfootballclub.org.
    The award, which is presented by the Philadelphia-based Maxwell Football Club, is named in honor of Robert "Tiny" Maxwell, whose contributions to the game as a player, sportswriter and official were extensive. The award has been handed out every year since 1937.
The Rockets open the season on the road on Friday, Sept. 2 at Arkansas State in a game that will be nationally televised on ESPNU. Kickoff time is set for 9:00 p.m. ET.
