Post-Game Quotes
Toledo Head Coach Matt Campbell
“This was a huge win for our program. It was a crazy game. I couldn't be more proud of our seniors because we wouldn't be here without their effort and what they've done this season.”
“Kareem is a really good football player. To do what he's done as a freshman is impressive. He's really worked hard in practice and stayed the course. A lot of credit goes to our offensive line in addition to all the work Kareem has put in. It will be fun to watch how his career progresses.”
“We played outstanding defense in the first half, but you certainly don't want to give up that many points in the second half. I was happy that we made the plays we needed to late in the game when Buffalo made it a two-touchdown game.”
Senior wide receiver Bernard Reedy
(on if it was the same play on both touchdown passes)
“Yes, it actually was. TO and I feel like we can catch the safety flat-footed and make a big play.”
(on why team has been starting games fast offensively recently)
“I'm not really sure, but one thing is that we've been going against our No. 1 defense in practice and that's something we don't normally do. We usually start fast in practice, so I think that preparation has helped.”
Junior guard Greg Mancz
(on Kareem Hunt gaining over 100 yards in his fourth straight game)
“I think it starts with Kareem in the film room. He's in there with us and Flu on Mondays every single week looking at defenses and how he can hit holes. It shows a lot for a true freshman to be so into it at that young of age. He keeps running hard and I'm very happy he's on our team.”
(on the offensive line setting the tone)
“Our coaches had a great game plan going in and it was one of those games where we all knew we were going to be successful. The first half we were just clicking on all cylinders both running and passing the ball.”
Sophomore linebacker Chase Murdock
“We shut down their run early and that was our main goal. We also did a good job of containing their passing game and we did good job of that until the second half. We just to keep grinding throughout the game and we'll get it right.”
(on possibly getting complacent)
“I don't think so. We took an early lead at the start and then they had some big play in the second half. Those are things we can correct though.”
Buffalo Head Coach Jeff Quinn on the difference in play after halftime.
“I have seen that all year long with this team. So I really wasn't surprised to know that these kids could come out and respond. I give Toledo a lot of credit. They got on us quickly, and I was proud of how our kids got out there in the second half and started to settle down. At the end of the day we didn't accomplish what we wanted to achieve. And there are no excuses there.
I tip my hat off to Toledo. They are a good ball club, and we knew that. It's the MAC in November; we know there is good football being played this time of year. But there are a lot of positives that we can see in the second half we can build on.
