With today's loss, UT falls to 4-3 all-time in overtime contests. The Rockets most recently suffered a 55-54 extra-period setback against Fresno State on Sept. 20, 2008.

The Rockets also fall to 1-8 against teams from the Big East Conference, with their lone win coming against No. 9 Pittsburgh in 2003 (0-3 vs. Syracuse, 1-2 vs. Pittsburgh, 0-1 vs. Boston College, 0-1 vs. Connecticut, 0-1 vs. West Virginia).
The Midnight Blue & Gold also drop to 2-7 in games played in domed stadiums (1-3 in Ford Field, 0-2 in Metrodome, 1-0 in Silverdome, 0-2 in Carrier Dome).
Junior WR Eric Page caught a season-high 13 passes for a career-best 158 yards, marking his ninth career game with double-digit catches and 13th contest topping the century mark in receiving yards. With today's effort, Page passed Steve Odom (216 catches for 2,631 yards, 2003-06) to move into third place in school history with 219 career receptions for 2,696 yards.
Junior QB Austin Dantin started the contest under center and completed a season-high 22-of-32 passes for a season-best 258 yards and one touchdown. Dantin has now thrown a TD pass in each game this season.
Sophomore QB Terrance Owens also saw time in today's non-league finale and completed 6-of-10 passes for 42.
Senior PK Ryan Casano booted a pair of field goals, including a 20-yarder at the end of regulation to force overtime, and is now 6-of-7 for the season.
Sophomore RB David Fluellen carried the ball a season-high 12 times for a team-best 62 yards. Fluellen also caught four passes for 43 yards, including a 29-yard TD reception in the third quarter.
Senior RB Morgan Williams rushed the ball eight times for 39 yards and two touchdowns. Today marked Williams' second career game with multiple touchdowns. The Canton, OH native had a career-high three scores vs. Miami on Nov. 21, 2008.
Senior RB Adonis Thomas carried the ball for eight yards on the first play from scrimmage and immediately came out of the contest with a left arm injury. Following the game, Head Coach Tim Beckman announced that Thomas had suffered a broken arm and would be out 3-4 weeks.
Senior CB Desmond Marrow was taken off the field in a stretcher midway through the third period after a helmet-to-helmet collision with Syracuse RB Antwon Bailey. Marrow, who finished with a team-high nine tackles, gave the crowd a thumbs up as he exited the field. After the game, Head Coach Tim Beckman announced that Marrow had suffered a concussion, but has full movement and the CT scan was negative. Marrow did make the trip back with the team on the charter flight.
Freshman PK Jeremiah Detmer converted a 52-yard field goal on the final play of the opening half in his first collegiate field-goal attempt. Detmer's 52-yard boot is the second-longest in school history, trailing only Todd France's 55-yard kick vs. Western Michigan on Nov. 6, 2001.
Senior STAR Byron Best made his first start of the season in place of injured senior Charles Rancifer and finished with two stops.
Sophomore CB Ross Madison finished with a career-high six tackles. Madison came into today's game with two stops on the season. His previous career high was three stops on three occasions last season.
Toledo opened the game with a season-high 22 play drive that lasted 10:34, resulting in a 20-yard field goal by senior PK Ryan Casano. The Rockets have now produced three scoring drives of at least 10 plays this season.
UT outscored Syracuse 10-0 in the first quarter and now holds a 48-20 scoring advantage in the opening 15 minutes this season. UT also finished with a decisive 11:58-3:02 advantage in time of possession in today's opening period.
The Rockets converted 50 percent (9-of-18) of their third-down conversions and were a perfect 3-of-3 in red-zone scoring chances. They came into today's non-league finale converting 46 percent (23-of-50) on third down and were 7-of-8 inside the 20-yard line.
Toledo finished with a decisive 438-366 advantage in total offense, including a 300-213 edge in passing yards, and held 79-66 advantage in total offensive plays.
Senior RB Adonis Thomas, senior OL John Morookian, senior DL Malcolm Riley and redshirt freshman OL Greg Mancz served as today's game captains. Thomas has been selected a captain in three of the first four games this season, while Morookian has been chosen as a captain on two occasions. UT names its captains on a game-by-game basis, rewarding players for their effort and dedication.
