With today's setback, the Rockets fall to 6-9 all time against teams ranked in the Top 25, including 1-8 in the visitor's stadium.
UT is now 6-15 all time versus the Big Ten, but a respectable 6-10 since breaking though with a win over Purdue in 1992. Ohio State moves to 18-0 vs. Mid-American Conference schools.
Junior WR Eric Page caught a game-high 12 passes for 145 yards and two touchdowns, including a season-best 66-yard TD reception in the first quarter. Page has now reeled in double digit receptions on eight occasions and topped the century mark 13 times. He has now scored a TD in seven of the last eight games. With today's effort, Page moved into third place in school history in career receptions (198), tied for fourth place in consecutive games with a catch (27) and tied for fifth in TD catches (18).
Eric Page also completed a pass to junior TE Hank Keighley for a two-point conversion in the first quarter and is 5-for-6 throwing the football in his UT career.
Junior QB Austin Dantin got the start under center for the second-consecutive game and completed 14-of-26 for 155 yards and one TD. For the season, Dantin has thrown four TD passes and no interceptions.
Sophomore QB Terrance Owens also saw time under center and finished 7-of-16 for 137 yards and one touchdown. Owens has now tossed at least one TD pass in eight-consecutive contests.
The Rockets outgained Ohio State in total yards, 338-301, and finished the game with a decisive 292-189 advantage in passing yards. UT has now amassed 596 yards through the air in the first two games, compared to 369 yards for its opposition.
Senior RB Adonis Thomas carried the ball 14 times for a team-high 47 yards, including a four-yard TD scamper in the third quarter. Thomas has scored a TD in eight of the last 11 games. The four-year Rocket also caught a career-high six passes for 111 yards, including a big play of 44 yards, eclipsing the century mark for the first time in his UT career.
Senior CB Taikwon Paige tied for the team lead with a career-best seven stops, including one tackle-for-loss, one forced fumble and three pass breakups.
Junior LB Robert Bell tied for the squad lead with seven tackles, equaling his career high from last week against New Hampshire.
Senior LB Terrell Anderson made his first career start and finished with five stops. Anderson came into today's game 21 tackles in 23 games played.
Freshman CB Kishon Wilcher was credited with his first career blocked punt in the first quarter.
Through the first two games of the season, the Rockets are outscoring their opponents, 32-7, in the opening quarter.
Toledo was 2-of-3 in red-zone opportunities and is 7-of-8 inside the 20-yard line on the season.
Today's attendance was 105,016, marking the second-largest crowd the Rockets have played in front of in school history. The all-time record is 107,267 at Michigan on Oct. 11, 2008.
Senior RB Adonis Thomas, senior WR Kenny Stafford, senior PK Ryan Casano and junior DE T.J. Fatinikun served as today's game captains. Thomas has been selected a captain in each of the first two games this season. UT names its captains on a game-by-game basis, rewarding players for their effort and dedication.
