The Military Bowl marked the first game under the direction of newly-appointed head coach Matt Campbell. He served as offensive coordinator for the past three seasons under former head coach Tim Beckman. Campbell called plays from the press box, as associate head coach/run game coordinator Louis Ayeni served as the on-field representative for the Rockets.
This was the 12th bowl game that Toledo has played in and the second-consecutive year UT advanced to postseason play. The win against Air Force gives the Rockets an all-time bowl record of 9-3.
This was the first time Toledo has played against Air Force. The win gives UT a 4-5 all-time record against Mountain West Conference opponents.
Seniors Adonis Thomas, Desmond Marrow, Mike VanDerMeulen and Johnathan Lamb served as team captains for the bowl game. UT names its captains on a game-by-game basis, rewarding players for their effort and dedication.
Eric Page scored the third Rockets' touchdown on an 87-yard kickoff return. It was Page's first kickoff return TD of the season and fourth of his career.
Eric Page finished the game with 13 receptions for 59 yards. He is now in a three-way tie for first place among all-time MAC career reception leaders with 306. He shares the record with Josh Davis, a Marshall receiver from 2001-04, and Jordan White, a senior at Western Michigan.
The Rockets scored 28 points in the first half. It marked the ninth time this season that Toledo has scored 20 or more first-half points. They reached the 20-spot in seven of eight MAC contests as well as the season opener against New Hampshire. The lone MAC game in which they didn't score 20 first-half points was when UT was held scoreless in a 28-21 victory at Bowling Green.
Bernard Reedy caught three touchdown passes (17 yards, 49 yards and 33 yards), setting a new career high. He previously recorded two TD receptions in the 2011 season opener against New Hampshire. It was the fourth game that Reedy has recorded at least one TD reception.
Senior RB Adonis Thomas rushed for 108 yards for the Rockets, giving him 1,011 yards for the season. It was his fifth-consecutive 100-yard game. Thomas' 11 career 100-plus yard efforts are eighth in school history.
Junior LB Dan Molls led the defense with 12 tackles, marking the fifth-straight game he has led or tied for the team lead in defensive stops.
Jeremiah Detmer missed his first field goal of the season, a 47-yarder in the first quarter.
Jermaine Robinson returned an interception for a touchdown in the third quarter. It was his third pick of the season, and the second straight game that he took an interception to the house.
UT set a school record with its sixth-straight game scoring 40 or more points. The previous mark was established in the in the 2004 campaign.
The Rockets won despite being bested in total yards (407-339), rushing yards (248-123) and time of possession (34:13-25:47).
Attendance at RFK Stadium for the Military Bowl was 25,042.
